Exceptional Antarctic Peninsular trip & into the Antarctic Circle

This trip was superb from beginning to end. We were told it wasn't a cruise but an "Expedition" and how right they were. The Hondius is a fantastic ship with all the comforts a great crew, hospitality and expedition leaders team that were so helpful, educated and made it a fantastic trip. After crossing the Drakes passage which was relatively smooth we visited Wihemina Bay & Neko Harbour. We were soon out in the Zodiac boats exploring the Bays seeing Humpback Whales & Killers Whales. The ice conditions allowed us to cross the "Antarctic Circle" with Petrals, Albatrosses & Fulmars following us. We had a spectacular ship cruise through the "Gunnel" towards Marguerite Bay a place I had heard alot about and it was fantastic with incredible icebergs and Peninsular beauty in the background. We visited Stonington Island and with old USA and British Antarctic Bases, what a piece of history, very interesting. Moving back up the west coast of the Peninsular we also visited Salpetiere Bay and Peterman Island. Back in the Zodiacs again to explore and most days we were out in them morning and afternoon. Back for lunch in-between and superb dining. More Whales spotted at Foyn Harbour & Cievra Cove and visited the Guvernoren Shipwreckand old Whaling Ship. We also saw the old Argentinian Primavera Base on a rocky outcrop. We then visted eEephant Point and walked along the beach by the massive Elephant Seals, what a sight. At Whalers Bay and Deception Island we went on land again and joined the "Antarctic Swimming Club" Wow ! what an experience. This was a great end to the Antarctic Peninsular and then out run a hurricane to cross the Drakes Passage again back to Ushuaia and through the famous Beagle Channel. Incredible trip balanced with very knowledgeable lectures on the Ship and light entertainment it truly was a trip of a life time and good value for money; highly recommend. Thank you OceanWide, the crew, the expedition leaders (circa 20 of them) and the ship's hospitality team.

Spectacular lifetime experience!

I was so lucky to join the amazing tour for two weeks and it was just a wonderful experience in total! We got such a warm welcome on board from the whole team. We felt very quick kind of home and enjoyed it so much, that it's hard to explain in words. I can just recommend to join a tour of these company! We had a fantastic time outside in the Antartica with such experienced and high knowledged guides, such a joy to listen to them. I made a great choice with Oceanwide and would always go again! We have been blesses with a lot of beautiful wildlife and enjoyed every single moment together! I was sad to leave, but I'll come again! Thanks to a great expedition plan, luck in the weather, and an absolutely incredible expedition team, we had the experience of a lifetime. Every day was a unique experience, and every single day was absolutely fantastic. I saw a lot of amazing places, but this expedition surpassed them all.

A Glorius Expedition

I can't say, just how amazing this trip was. It was truly incredible. The ship, the captain, the expedion staff, the expedition leader, the crew, the restaurant staff, the locations, the ice bergs and all the penguins, seals, birds and whales. I loved every minute of this expedition and it never disappointed. Sending a bunch of ordinary passengers down south to experience an environment so unique and rare that many years ago cost many people their lives to get here, is wild. I feel so lucky and blessed to have had this adventure, within the comfort of a warm remarkable vessel. The highlight, was an area called red rock Ridge, a place swarming with manic Adelie penguins and a rough zodiac trip, this felt like proper adventure. Many thanks, and I advise anyone who's thinking about going with oceanwide, to do it 😀

An indescribable experience (Polar Circle - Wilkins Ice Shelf - Aurora Australis Discovery)

Since this was my second visit to Antarctica, I thought I knew what to expect. However this expedition far succeeded every expectation I had before I boarded Ortelius. Crossing the polar circle, seeing the Southern lights, visiting the Wilkins ice shelf, spotting Emperor/Gentoo/Adélie/Chinstrap penguins, having the most amazing encounters with humpback whales next to (and under) the zodiac boat.. There are just too many highlights to only pick one. Antarctica, the wonderful crew, the great fellow passengers. This was something extremely special which I'll never forget. Highly recommended to anyone ready to explore the most magical place, in a way that can be considered a true polar expedition. I'll absolutely visit again, and I will surely choose Oceanwide for that next adventure.

Words will not do enough justice or explain how content and excited I am, even after the expedition ends. Everything from boarding the ship to the crew staff, the expedition team, and the activities worked perfectly, and the weather was just amazing throughout the trip. A huge thanks to Sara, our expedition leader, and her team for ensuring everyone gets to do all activities safely. Also, the lectures were so informative and interesting that even the long sailing days felt exciting. Highly Recommended!

It was the most amazing trip to the Deep South of the Earth. I wasn't well prepared or well read on what to expect but the experience was absolutely unique. The landscapes are out of this world and I will treasure the memory of this pristine natural surroundings and its inhabitants forever in my heart and mind. The team on the m/v Ortelius was the best you could wish for and the size and comfort of the ship was just perfect. Everyone on board could participate in all the activities that were organized. I can only recommend this amazing voyage to everyone with a passion for nature and adventure.

With Mother Nature on our side, we had an amazing expedition on the Remote Weddell Sea Explorer. Reaching 78S on this side of the continent was truly a wonder ... the zodiac cruising, the tabular iceberg landing, the ice floe and fast ice landings, the continental and very unique Berkner Island landings, the wildlife that we were able to view in close proximity. It all combined for a magnificent experience. Excellent expedition team led by Sara Jenner.

Solo travel on Hondius Feb 2025 to Falkland, South Georgia and Antarctica. Saw 7 different Penguin species. Rockhopper, Gentoo, Magellanic, Macaroni, Adelie, Chinstrap & King Penguin. Saw different Whales as well. Minke Whale, Killer Whale / Orcas, Humpback Whales. Saw different birds. Saw different Seals. Fur Seals, Crab Eater Seals, Leopard Seals, Weddell Seals. Beautiful Landscape. Expedition Team great. Crew and Staff great. Love everything about my trip. Worth the money spent. Thanks for the trip log & slideshow. Food is great. Activities great. Love the zodiac cruise and landings.
